The DRILL Startup Accelerator Program is part of a series of learning engagements by Innovate Gambia and its partners. The program is named after the late Dr. Ibrahim Lowe with the full name of DR. Ibrahim Lowe Learning series.
DRILL Accelerator is a 6-months accelerator for 60 businesses providing skills, business tools and capital for growth in The Gambia and Tanzania. It is organized in partnership between the Westerwelle Startup Haus Arusha (Tanzania) and Disruptive Lab (Gambia) and sponsored by AfriLab’s Capacity Building Programs and AFD through the Digital Africa seed fund.
The curriculum for DRILL Accelerator takes into consideration the 3 core offerings of the program that also drive the focus and content: business training, business tools, and capital. The program aims to improve the entrepreneurs’ business skills, help them create strategies, and operational structures through select business trainings to help them identify opportunities for growth both within their companies and in the ecosystem that surrounds them. The business training goes hand in hand with business tools such as Liveplan and QuickBooks that will be provided to the entrepreneurs and the participants are expected to learn enough in the sessions to be able to apply their learnings through the business tools. Lastly, a good portion of the curriculum is dedicated to investment readiness, understanding investment processes, and valuations so that the businesses are prepared for loans that will be provided to the top performers of the program.
